Country music star Luke Combs will perform the Daytona 500 pre-race show Sunday at 1 p.m. at Daytona International Speedway. Here's a little about the singer.

Some of his popular singles are "Forever After All"; "What You See Is What You Get"; Let the Moonshine"; "She Got the Best of Me"; "Beer Never Broke My Heart"; and "When It Rains It Pours."

Where's he from?

Combs was born March 2, 1990, in Huntersville, North Carolina. He began performing as a child. According to Wikipedia, he performed at Carnegie Hall. He left college to move to Nashville and released his debut EP "The Way She Rides" in 2014.

He's got a lot of awards

Combs has had several albums go multi-platinum, and has earned ACM, CMA, CMT and Billboard Music awards, plus several Grammy Award nominations.

The show will follow safety guidelines

All Speedway guests will be screened before entering the facility and will be required to wear face coverings while maintaining six feet social distancing throughout their visit.

He's a NASCAR fan

"I grew up watching the NASCAR race every Sunday with my granddad; that was our thing." Combs said. "I never could have imagined back then that I'd be playing the Daytona 500 one day, so this is super awesome and is something I'm really looking forward to."

Other musical highlights

Music has become a tradition prior to the start of the 500. Darius Rucker performed last year. Jake Owen was the featured performer in 2019. Florida Georgia Line has headlined, featuring Ormond Beach native Brian Kelley. Kid Rock, Brad Paisley, Lenny Kravitz and more have rocked the track over the years.
