Where to Buy and Sell Tickets

There are a handful of dependable, trustworthy ticket reseller sites to choose from. Whether you want to purchase tickets to a sold out show or are looking to sell tickets online, we've rounded up everything you need to know about these sites, including their guarantee policy, extra fees and more.

Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster is the go-to reseller site for all your ticketing needs, including concerts, sports, theater events such as Broadway, comedy shows and more.

The site offers multiple ticket types for various events, such as general admission, VIP, Platinum and hotel packages. For many (but not all) events, Ticketmaster will tell you if the item you're buying is using all-in pricing, which means the price you see includes fees upfront. This way, you don't experience any surprises when you go to checkout.

For international shows, Ticketmaster is one if the best options, with the ability to purchase tickets for shows at 16 countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Mexico and more.

In some cases, you can even resell tickets you've purchased yourself—whether it's to recoup the cost of a show you can't attend, or as a side hustle. Be sure the tickets you purchase are resell-eligible, since not all of them are. From there, it's easy to list what you want to sell with Ticketmaster's own step-by-step instructions. Ticketmaster typically pays you 5-7 business days after your tickets are sold.

StubHub

Seeing your favorite sporting event, artist, musical or festival is easy with StubHub, another major reseller platform.

Like Ticketmaster, StubHub has a price toggle feature to show estimated fees. You can find this feature in the Price Display Options for both the app and webpage.

Sellers can list tickets on StubHub for free and only pay a sellers fee when the tickets are sold. But be aware that unlike Ticketmaster, StubHub pays you for tickets that you've sold 5-8 business days after the event, not after the date the tickets were purchased.

SeatGeek has some compelling features that make it a ticket resale site worth considering.

Like StubHub, SeatGeek offers a 100% guarantee for buyers. The platform has a special feature called Deal Score that gives you insight into whether you're getting a good deal on a ticket or not. If you're selling a ticket, Deal Score compares your listing with others so you can see if your price is competitive.

One of the great features on SeatGeek that other platforms don't have is the price listing for each event. It will show the lowest price first, saying tickets start at a certain price. It's a quick and easy way to see which show date has the cheapest tickets available.

StubHub only offers tickets for events in the U.S. And Canada, unlike other platforms that offer more robust international options.

SeatGeek lets sellers list their tickets for free ands assesses a 10% fee once the ticket is sold.

Vivid Seats

If you're looking to see a sports game, concert or Broadway show, Vivid Seats is a good option thanks to the service's 100% buyer guarantee.

Something we haven't seen elsewhere is Vivid Seat's loyalty program. In fact, according to Vivid Seats, it has "the only loyalty program in the live event industry." The result: Each transaction earns you points that can earn you free tickets.

Like SeatGeek, Vivid Seats allows sellers to list their tickets for free and only charges a 10% fee once the ticket is sold.

Vivid Seats can claim that its customer service is award-winning (it made Newsweek's list of America's Best Companies for Customer Service more than once).

Each ticket on Vivid Seats is screened by the site's verification team, which offers an extra layer of protection and additional peace of mind.

The platform has tickets available for international events, typically listing the price in United States dollars so you don't have to use a currency converter to figure out how much your order will cost.

TicketNetwork

TicketNetwork is another popular platform for buying tickets to concerts, sports and theater events.

The service offers a 100% money-back guarantee for buyers. Moreover, TicketNetwork guarantees that the tickets you receive will be the ones you requested, or better—if the seller substitutes your ticket for another one, the new seat must be of equal value or higher.

The site requires that tickets with an obstructed view or partial view must include a disclaimer so the buyer knows exactly what they're purchasing.

Calling itself "the original no-fee ticket site," TickPick offers tickets with no service fees (hidden or otherwise). The service relies on upfront pricing, meaning the price you see at checkout is what you pay, with no added cost.

The site also offers price matching: If you find the same seats on another reseller site that are cheaper than the ones on TickPick, the service will give you 110% of the price difference in site credit.

TickPick protects its buyers with a guarantee that all purchased tickets are valid. If there's a problem, the site provides tickets of equal or greater value.

Sellers can list tickets for free on the site, but TickPick takes a small commission if they are sold.

That can depend on factors like the type of event you want to see, whether a site does upfront pricing or has hidden fees—and importantly, if there is a buyer guarantee.
